I'm fairly indifferent to basketball, but when Mayor Villaraigosa announced that Los Angeles residents should stay away from Downtown tonight, I was even more compelled to check out the area around Staples Center.
Dudes were breaking in the street, a guy strutted around with a street cone on his head, others tossed cones at passing LAPD squad cars, drivers who didn't avoid the crowded intersections risked getting their cars rocked, some knuckleheads yanked a tire with rims from the back of a stalled pickup truck, I got a bear hug out of nowhere, and a homey flipped me off from atop a street sign.
Maybe Villaraigosa should keep quiet next championship...or hide like these trash bins...
